Great Bowling Techniques To Remember
The first time you go bowling you might not do very well-especially if you haven’t ever seen a bowling game before. The concept of the game is quite simple: you roll your ball down the lane and try to knock over as many pins as you can to get the highest score. You get two tries to knock all of the pins down. Anybody can bowl. Most new players instinctively know what to do when they play for the first time. However, what most players take some time to master are the techniques needed to turn a good score into a great score. You could bowl your ball right through a dog door!
One of the first things you should focus on if you are new to bowling is getting your ball to go straight down the lane. The reason so many bowling balls wind up in the gutter and missing the pins completely is that many people unintentionally put a spin on the ball when they let it go. To get a nice straight line, you have to learn to keep any twist out of your throw. When you throw the ball, make sure your left foot is in the center of the lane, this is the first step for avoiding spin. For left handed people, make sure your right foot is in the center of the lane. You should be trying to get your ball over the third arrow. The third arrow is on the fifteenth board from the right. When throwing the ball, you need to make sure that your shoulder is lined up with this fifteenth board. Your throwing arm shouldn’t favor going to the left or right.
What you may not know is that your level of physical fitness is important to your bowling game. Like people who practice any sport, the fittest bowlers have an advantage; so, if you want to bowl better, work on staying in shape. While this is a rather fundamental truth about bowling, many beginners are not aware of it. Upper body strength undeniably plays a large role in bowling. Yet it’s also true that your lower body plays an equally important role in your bowling technique. Remember, your overall physical health is very important to bowling, and ignoring it will be detrimental to your game. So don’t forget to hit the gym once in a while if you truly want to be on top of your game. Use your stationary bike stand to get in perfect bowling shape.
How much power you put behind the ball is also an important factor. Some people really have to put some “oomph” into the throwing of their bowling balls. Others get better results by only gently throwing the ball down the lane. Some can get more control over the ball as it goes down the lane if they put less force behind their throw.
Pick one great bowler who especially impresses you and watch how he or she moves. See how they stand, and the posture they assume when releasing the ball. As you copy the pros, you’ll figure out what works for you and what doesn’t and over time, your bowling score will improve.
